 Prolotherapy . . . A Cure for Your Pet’s Arthritis?
Acupuncture/Acupressure

Arthritis is an all too common ailment, not just in humans, but our animal companions as well.  Masking the chronic pain with anti-inflammatories and pain killers is not the only answer.  Surgery is expensive and requires extensive rehabilitation.  In fact, inflammation or swelling is evidence that the body is working to heal itself.

Prolotherapy, also known as prololiferative therapy is commonly referred to as “ligament reconstructive therapy”.  It is the rehabilitation of an incompetent structure, such as a ligament or tendon, by the induced proliferation (production of new cells in rapid succession) of new cells.

This technique has been effective in achieving pain relief for more than 50 years.  While modern medicine still continues to search for drugs or surgeries to eliminate chronic pain.  What causes chronic pain?  Pain is due to ligament weakness, prolotherapy permanently strengthens tissue.  Dr. Sanderson has trained with the leading expert on prolotherapy in humans, Dr. Ross Hauser, of Chicago, Illinois.

The most common conditions we treat with prolotherapy:

  • Hip dysplasia
  • Cruciate injury
  • Back/neck pain
  • Elbow dysplasia
  • Spinal arthritis

Why won’t my pet heal naturally on it’s own?

The following will slow or impede the healing process:

  • Cortisone shots/anti-inflammatories
  • Nutritional deficiencies
  • Immobilization
  • Ligament/tendon weakness
  • Chronic injections
  • Allergies

Treatments range from $350.00 - $800.00.  It depends on the severity/complexity of the case and whether sedation or x-rays are needed.  It is ¼ the cost of knee or hip surgery!

Some patients are healed with only two treatments, others require six or seven.

What is in the “Prolo”shot?

They key to successful prolo treatment lies in the skill of the doctor finding the correct painful areas, as well as the ingredients:
